About Me

A military brat and Third Culture Kid, I experienced wanderlust at a young age. Luckily, I married a great guy who was willing to drop everything and hit the road. This is our 20th year teaching and travelling overseas – four years in Istanbul, Turkey; four years in Shanghai, China; two years in Vientiane, Laos; five years in New Delhi, India; and for now, we call Santiago, Chile, our home.

  1. I love reading your blog about your travels and teaching! It is something that I have always wanted to do myself. I am currently working on my graduate degree in the states and am hoping to reach out to an international teacher. One of my final assignments is to interview an international teacher about aspects of global learning. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to send you a few questions if you would be willing.
    Thank you,

    Mariam

  2. Sharon!!!!!

It’s Sonia here, Tina’s daughter! I am finally teaching English in Vietnam but I have some questions I wanted to ask you if that’s ok…..please contact me! Love reading your blog—it’s been a huge inspiration to me while I have been making the moved to teach abroad!

  3. I’ve been reading and enjoying your blog since your time in Laos. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures. I hope you don’t mind my asking a question. My partner and I are considering going back overseas, though we’ve recently bought a house. I notice you’ve written about owning a house too. How do you handle that while abroad? Do you rent it out? Property manager? We’re looking for any tips or tricks you’re willing to offer. Thanks so much for your time and for writing about your travels!

  4. Hello! I found your blog when googling Gujarat Haveli. I’ve lived in Gurgaon for 2 years working and exploring India. Your posts are fun to read and helpful (I’m heading to the Haveli this weekend looking for doors). You have lots of great and helpful information.

Would you like to share your trip itineraries with other women? I co-founded a website geared to women traveling, Global Women On Tour. We give women the opportunity to share their travel experiences with each other for free. Your blog is full of exactly the types of trips women would love. Especially your trip to Puerto Varas. We are all about girl trips! That’s how we got started. A group of women living in Asia and traveling together. We’d love to publish your itinerary. We don’t have any itineraries for South America yet (we are only one month old). You could be our first!

If you share an itinerary you will get an author page and a link back to your blog if you like. If you are interested please check us out and feel free to contact me. We are on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn too.

We would love to invite you to join the fun!

  5. Hey Sharon!
Happy New Year!! I am reaching out to make some connections for teaching internationally.
I am a mom of 2 grown adults (in their professional years), and it’s time to fulfill one of my dreams of teaching internationally. I have taught 24 years from k-12 in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦… I would really like to connect!
    Hope to hear from you!
